  • Container Garden Project- Spring 2012

This project gave every 4th grader in Okmulgee County (546) a six-pack of vegetable plants.

Bob Seebeck oversaw the growing of the plants and Dr. Ed Osborn organized the overall project. Kim Blodgett from OSU-ext gave a presenation on the nutrional values of the vegetables the students would be growing and Jerron Scott made a video over the planting instructions. The hope is that if the students grow their own vegetables they will be more likely to try and like them. Oklahoma ranks 50th in the nation in fruit and vegetable consumption and is one of the most obese states. If you would like to know more on the project, please contact Bobby Howard 918-756-1883x139 or roberth@health.ok.gov
